Role description

The primary role of the Data Scientist is to support our Solutions division in enhancing our existing analytics and machine learning capabilities, and developing new value-adding custom data science solutions for our clients.

Our solutions span a mix of advanced analytics platforms used by leading companies and highly tailored models built around our clients’ functional needs. We deliver data science solutions across profitability and pricing analytics, operations and network optimisation, demand forecasting, and more.

You will support our Senior Data Scientists and Management Consultants in developing new models and analytical products, enhancing our existing solutions, and working closely with engagement teams to translate data into commercial value for our clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end data science work across multiple projects, from problem-framing through to model deployment.
  • Collaborate closely with our Consultants to design value-adding analytical solutions and translate business problems into data science problems.
  • Identify data limitations and modelling constraints, and define the assumptions and requirements needed to produce robust solutions.
  • Create high quality technical and methodology documentation, including model design, assumptions, validation approach, and results interpretation.
  • Break down and schedule analytical tasks across the model development lifecycle.
  • Build, train, and deploy machine learning and statistical models to the highest standards, adhering to accepted data science methodologies and MLOps best practices.
  • Perform rigorous model validation, back-testing, and monitoring to ensure ongoing accuracy and performance.

Your background and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Data Scientist or in a comparable analytics role.
  • Strong knowledge and production code experience in core data science libraries.
  • Experience with at least one deep learning framework, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
  • Solid understanding of statistical modelling, machine learning algorithms, and experimental design.
  • Experience with scripting to build automation and data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and version control, CI / CD, Docker, and containerised deployment of models.
